Expectations and code of SOCIAL conduct
There is no doubt that co working spaces are the new tend and why not , internationally the professional work force boundaries have shrunk and it has given boost to such business and needs. In fact co working spaces concept has considerably gained momentum post COVID 19 pandemic, most of us were at home and the business has to go on, professionals were bound to deliver the quantum, this forced measure gave the large corporations to adopt the new concept of remote working as it not only reduced the cost of the companies in maintaining the office spaces but also saved daily travel time and resources of the workforce. Particularly for the startups it has emerged as a sustainable cost saving due to number of reasons:
Shared spaces are cheaper than traditional offices, usually offer better amenities and provide better opportunities for social interaction. Compared to working from home, co working spaces foster productivity and allow workers to connect with each other. It’s no surprise that they’re taking the working world by storm.
Just like in case with a large corporation, a shared workspace relies on a code of conduct, which can be either understood or clearly laid out. Often the expectation for space user is the same across different co working communities. The most common expectations in co working spaces are simple, but they really do help keep everyone happy. If you’re new to the world of co working, here’s what you should adapt to:
DRAW BOUNDRIES
In simple words ,respect the physical and emotional boundaries of the people sharing spaces, more over when you are the common desk spaces , make sure to keep things organized at your end specially when you are carrying a bunch of articles with you , ensure you allow equal room for the sharer belongings as well. Maintain a social conduct of personal respect of every individual. While desks are assumed to be shared, dedicated desks are off limits, so don’t peruse a book, borrow a pen, or go through documents you find on one. If you see someone wearing headphones or immersed in their work, don’t distract them for no reason.
MAINTAIN SCHEDULING
Often it is seen when you are using the dedicate board room or meeting space for client presentation or meeting ,try wrapping it up in the schedule time as there are others waiting for their turn and may miss timelines. This is as simple to understand as you expect others to co-operate.
Time management is crucial for everyone, be predictive of your needs while booking a space so you are at peace to continue and also it gives other also to schedule accordingly.
SOCIAL CONDUCT
Social conduct is important as you may be practicing it in normal life, generally in the large corporation office the common rules of conduct are drawn and often seen these rules laid at the shared spaces as well, but common behaviors are carried in our personality and attitude in general. Restricting NOISE levels, maintaining hygiene personal and office, social conduct of respecting ethnicity, color caste and creed, wearable’s , dress code etc are to be maintained. Give no reason to your co sharers to feel embarrassed of awkward situations. The general idea is “treat the way you like to be treated”.
DO NOT MESS UP –KEEP IT CLEAN
As it is said “cleanliness and next to GODLINESS”, so ensure you maintain strict rules and do not mess it up the place. We all acknowledge the common sharing spaces are frequented by many people in a day, everyone expects clean working environment. Keeping it clean by ourselves is like expecting it clean when we arrive. Get through the rules thoroughly –clean up after snacking or eating, smoking in designated areas, restricting to visitor policy and avoid discriminating behavior towards your fellow sharers.
SIMPLE ETIQUETTE TIPS
How do you develop shared office etiquette everyone can abide by? Go back to common courtesies and the expectations people have for your space.
